Partner Of FBI Director Dies At Home
Washington DC Police confirmed early this morning that Colby Granger, husband of FBI Director David Sinclair, died last night in their home.
Sinclair, the FBI's first openly gay director, celebrated his retirement last night with Washington's political and law enforcement elite.
Sinclair and Granger, who met as young agents in Los Angeles, married in Washington six months after the ban on openly gay and lesbian service members (commonly known as 'Don't Ask Don't Tell') was lifted. Over the following twenty years, Sinclair rose through the ranks of the FBI to become only the second Black director five years ago. Meanwhile, Granger moved over to the Defensive Criminal Investigative Service, retiring the year Director Sinclair took up his post. Both Sinclair and Granger have become well-known in the gay rights community; Sinclair has served as honorary chair of Men Of All Colors Together for the past two years.
Sinclair has declined to make a statement. Washington Police Chief Hannah Smith has confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play.
