Teyla Emmagan's quarters. The official story is that John emptied out his pockets for something and forgot to pick them up again when he left. The true story involves one too many bottles of Athosian alcohol, extremely lowered inhibitions, and the kind of contest that good air force officers don't admit to being involved in.

Rodney McKay's quarters. The official story is barely worth hearing, since everyone knows he and John spend a lot of time in each others space. The true story is that John, exhausted and freaked out after hallucinating Kolya, passed out there, and Rodney emptied his pockets out for him; Rodney's never sure if he doesn't tell because he doesn't want to admit to doing something nice for John, because he knows John will be embarrassed at having fallen asleep, or because he doesn't want to admit to getting that close to parts of John he never wanted to get close to.

Ronon Dex's quarters. The official story is that they were practicing their putting action. The true story is that both of them find it easier to talk with something in their hands, and that time, they sat at opposite ends of Ronon's quarters and rolled a golf ball between them, so they could talk about Lorne and Ronon's relationship without having to look at each other.

Cameron Mitchell's on base quarters. The official story is that Cam inherited the room from O'Neill, and acquired the golf balls along with it. The true story is that, when you have only as long as it takes for people to get suspicious in which to have sex, you're not that careful about where the contents of your pack get thrown, and golf balls roll under things and get forgotten.

Three crates of them in the level 19 storage closet. No-one has a clue, officially or unofficially.
